Izmir is a cute but small seaside town. Plus, our only day to check everything out was a Monday – so all the galleries and museums were closed. So with our faux-Amazing-Race shoes on we managed to do everything Izmir had to offer on a quiet sightseeing day, and still make it in time to catch the 7pm flight to Antalya.
There was a freshly squeezed (and AMAZINGLY yummy) juice stop. We had time to linger over our fruity goodness, but all the locals seem to just stop by, get handed their “usual”, slam it down (the juices are served in glasses) and then head to work. Weird. I’d want coffee too….
We’re in Turkey, so of course there are a few more ridiculously picteresque ruins to climb all over…
We finally made time to hang around in a bazaar. And find the weirdest odds and ends and coffee’s to be had…
Because we weren’t done just yet, there were a few more monuments to admire (or at least I get to admire – E, as nominated navigator, often has her head down in a map…)
And of course, what’s a full day without a visit to a theme park. A Luna Park even!
Aaaaaannnnddddd we’re out. Huzzah and farewell Izmir
